Thumbs Up to our local TV programmers

A couple of years ago, our local TV stations used to air very few productions of their own.
Little wonder then a lot of their programmes were imported. Foreign series, Drama, fictions, episodes, documentaries and news bulletin were an order of their daily programming.
One television channel foristance DTV (Dar es Salaam television) was literally transformed as BBC and CNN recipient as all 24 hour programming was done at their favour. Even the newly minted one EATV (East Africa TV) which was shrewdly accredited for its own production during its onset in 2012 also went astray (at least 3 foreign programmes were introduced to the audience market).
In short the situation was much worse in almost all TV stations in Tanzania.
This was perhaps juicily. Supposedly there were shortage of technical man power plus the sophisticated production and editing suite to accommodate the audience needs. Evidently the current situation is much better.
Though the dependence of imported programmes hasn’t faded all way but the scenario is improving.
Our local TV programmers are astutely and demurely doing their work. Other production houses has also emerged and their role is to sell programmes to our local TV media houses. The likes of Benchmark Productions and EML-Entertainment Masters Limited(which has already started its own tv station TV E) is apparent.
Assuredly Tanzania has witness a notable development in TV programming. Even Municipal TVs (those who are owned by local authority) have also shown a way forward. As digital migration has already took place, the next challenge for our TV producers is to cope up with those changes.
It is very high time now for them with cutting edge technology to produce not only quality programmes but also of our local context.
